I'm an artist and writer creating pictures inspired by the coasts of Devon and Cornwall.

My art and writing draw inspiration from the coastal towns, seascapes and maritime history of Devon and Cornwall.
My beloved Devon is a constant source of inspiration for me. I love to SUP or take our boat 'Monique' along the coast, or tour our towns and villages and discover the beauty in the coastline, ancient harbours and their boats and historic buildings.
Boat Cove is the heart of Dawlish's fishing history and is a short walk from my home. It's where I keep 'Monique', our little fishing boat, which we sail in the sunny summer months.
I am a multi-media artist, able to turn my hand to different mediums. I create artworks with paint, pen and ink, and pencil, and also work with clay and other sculptural media. I trained at Exeter School of Art and Design, where I learned fine art painting, life drawing, design and ceramic sculpture.
Art school was a joy. It was the most creative environment I ever experienced. Studying with other artists and designers generated ripples of creativity that we all shared.
I am also a writer, I love to read and learn all about the oceans. Maritime history inspires much of his work, from sailors' tales of sea monsters and sirens to the classic beauty of hand-crafted boats.
I love to write about what I learn and love to share it. After all, sharing knowledge is what being human is all about.
Many of my friends call me Nelly. I'm married with two grown-up boys, and Arthur, our black and white rescue cat. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been born in Devon and fortunate to live within walking distance of the beach, living by the sea and doing seaside things…
